Bad credit report and its causes

Credit reports consist of details about an individual’s financial behavior and identification. According to a recent research, one person out of every five has a bad credit report. When it comes to lender, they are not as generous to the people who have a bad credit as compared to the people with a clean report because most of them feel that the borrowers default on the loan intentionally. If a lender is very cautious, he or she will immediately reject the loan application. Other lenders will ask for the security of the amount that is lent through a high rate of interest. The lenders, according to the risk that they will perceive may peg the interest rate. Some may try and overcharge you when you are facing an urgent financial need or you have fewer sources for fulfilling the need.

You may have to pay excessively for the bad credit that you have acquired. Sometimes you as a borrower may not be responsible for the bad credit report that might tarnish your credit history, but still in the legal context you cannot be forgiven even though it was due to some unintentional reasons. If you put the legal viewpoint aside, you will find that it is the lenders who are the reasons behind this most of the time. They try and sell financial products that are not appropriate to the borrowers who are not aware about it. They conceal the main information about it and try to mislead them by furnishing wrong details. There are various causes behind a bad credit report:

Arrears:
This is the most important reason behind bad credit. Arrears are results of failure to make timely payments towards the debts taken. While lenders think that borrowers default intentionally this may not be the reason for arrears all the time. Borrowers try and make regular payments, but sometimes the amount is too big and had the amount been less the arrears would have been less.

Unemployment:
Although unemployed people receive aids from the government the lenders do not give them loan.

Self-employment:

This is also treated as a case of bad credit report because of the lack of stability in the income of self employed people.
